Mac OSX vs Vista SP1 vs Ubuntu Feisty

Since a couple years I have been surprised about how people start using Apple products based on a clear dislike to Microsoft software and how Apple has used the idea of calling “cool” to people using their stuff in order to increases their sales at an atonishing rate.

A more impressive strategy is convincing people that Mac OS X has an increased level of security that Windows. Quite far from reality: the hacking contest at Vancouver hosted by CanSecWest (2008) showed that actually the first system to be defeated and remote hacked was the MacBook Air in a competition with Vista SP1 and Ubuntu Feisty. That means, you pay more that USD 1,000 for your laptop, you have the more vulnerable operating system but you can tell your friends you are a “cool” dude.
