How to Edit .IPA Tags

Rename the filename.IPA to filename.ZIP.
Open filename.ZIP with your favorite zip program (e.g., 7-zip)
Open iTunesMetadata.plist with text editor program to find string:

Code:
<key>genre</key>

And edit the next string to something you need.

Example:

Code:
<string>Business</string>

To this:

Code:
<string>Cracked Apps</string>

Once done, save iTunesMetadata.plist, and rename filename.ZIP back to filename.IPA.

  1. Hey, great post. Great blog. It is fresh and to the point. I just read literally dozens of blogs, because I can’t sleep, and yours is by far the best quality. You know it is rare to find decent content on these things… Most of them are cheap and spammy.

  2. Everything here works except for the conversion back to .ipa. Itunes doesn’t recognise the ipa file. It gave me this message: “The app “(App Name)” could not be added to your iTunes library because it is not a valid app”
